Country Cafe

The site is located on the west of Hovding Street and is zoned Rural under the Tararua District Plan (DP).
There is an existing house at the rear of the property.
An old building will be converted into for a cafe (38.64m2). This building was operated as a craft shop in 1985.
To the left there is several shops, wood carving, antiques. NZ natural clothing. Wopwop wetlands park, behind them is a small sock making factory.
The building on the right many years ago used to be a dairy factory, has more recently been used as a glass and arts shop but is now being lived in by its owners.
Norsewood, at the northern end of Tararua, prides itself on its unique heritage. Unique because of its Scandinavian heritage, trolls, proximity to the main highway and its strong resident community.
Norsewood features Johanna’s World, Museum, 100% Natural clothing shop, gardens, the unique troll stroll (Kiwi Walk), art and craft. Accommodation and food includes hotel, farm-stay, backpackers, tearooms, hotel meals and local store.
The many activities and attractions in Norsewood include a traditional Norwegian fishing boat, Pioneer Cottage Museum, antiques, the Norsewood hotel and the local cafe.
Several craft shops are dotted around the village. Norsewood also boasts about their nine-hole golf course which welcomes visiting golfers.
