Medical Centre Extension
- Location - Hillcrest
- Council - Hamilton City
The proposal to extend the existing Medical Centre (840m2) as part of the Midland Health model for 5 main medical facilities within Hamilton’s suburbs. Hillcrest will serve as an equivalent to Waikato Hospital in the event of a major event in the area.
The Centre will expend the current general practice over the two storey rear extension of 1217m2. The existing pharmacy, physiotherapist and dental practice will also increase in size. In addition the client plans to house a Pathlab and a podiatrist.
Parking will need to increase with the client purchasing the neighbouring properties.
Full landscaping of the site will integrate the development and car parking with a mix of New Zealand native flaxes and taller elements being planted. I understand the silver fir had its natural death some 2 years ago.
The development will be in stages: removing the houses and forming the new parking area, and then construction of the new building, so that there will be sufficient parking spaces for the activitieswith minimal disruption to the existing medical centre and neighbourhood.
The proposal is considered appropriate for the area, and will be carried out in a manner that maintains levels of amenity and environmental quality that is considered appropriate for this established neighbourhood.
